Information used to provide weather

WeatherVerity uses Cloudflare to deliver and protect this website. Network requests involve technical information such as an IP address. Cloudflare may provide an approximate city and country from your connection to populate “Your location”. We do not request GPS permission. An approximate location can be inaccurate; you can choose another city.

If you choose “Set as my location”, this browser remembers the public place ID. It is not an account or a precise street address. Your selected place and approximate-location response are sent privately and are not stored in shared page caches.

Purposes and legal basis

We rely on legitimate interests under GDPR Article 6(1)(f) to deliver requested forecasts, show useful weather from a coarse location estimate, prevent abuse and answer ordinary enquiries. Our interests are a usable, reliable service and responding to you. We limit location to a city, avoid visitor profiles and audience tracking, and restrict request protection to short time windows. Saving a place is optional and provides the preference you expressly request. Where we must meet a legal obligation, such as a valid data-rights request, the basis is Article 6(1)(c). Technical connection data is necessary to deliver a page; saving a place or contacting us is optional. We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

Storage and retention

The saved place remains in this browser until you reset it or clear site data. The homepage has a “Reset saved location” control after an explicit place choice. Request protection uses a daily keyed IP pseudonym with a one-minute rate-limit window; this is pseudonymous, not anonymous, information. We do not keep a visitor-IP database. Persistent Worker request logs and application refresh logs are disabled in this release.

Public search results are cached for up to one day and place metadata for up to seven days. Weather freshness ranges from five to thirty minutes, with bounded, labelled fallback periods. Shared records are scheduled for cleanup after expiry and a cleanup delay. These caches are not visitor profiles. Aggregate provider counters contain no visitor identifiers. Cloudflare separately processes network and security data under its Privacy Policy, including its own retention criteria for service, security and legal needs. That processing is distinct from our disabled Worker logs.

Service providers and transfers

Cloudflare provides hosting and security. Its global service can process technical information outside the EEA, including in the United States. Its Data Processing Addendum forms part of its service terms and supplies transfer mechanisms, including EU Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary safeguards where applicable. Contact us for information about the safeguards applicable to your information.

OpenMeteo GmbH in Switzerland provides weather and geocoding. Our server sends public place queries and city coordinates without forwarding visitor IP addresses, browser headers or saved-location labels. Enter place names only, not private information. Open-Meteo associates API usage with our subscription and states that individual API logs are removed after 90 days, retaining aggregate usage. See its Terms & Privacy and our Sources & method.

Email

If you write to hello@weatherverity.com, we process your address, message and attachments to respond. We use Google Workspace (Gmail) to receive and answer email directly at our domain. Google processes mailbox content under its Cloud Data Processing Addendum. Processing may occur outside the EEA, including in the United States, with applicable transfer safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. Messages and attachments are not published on this website. Optional Google smart features are disabled for this mailbox. Avoid passwords, API keys, sensitive information and precise home addresses. We permanently delete ordinary correspondence from our mailbox within 90 days after a matter is closed. Google’s deletion from its systems can take additional time under its Data Processing Addendum. Relevant records may be retained for a specific legal claim until final resolution or expiry of the applicable limitation period; such exceptions are reviewed separately.

Your right to object

You may object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact hello@weatherverity.com. We will assess the objection and stop processing unless the applicable legal conditions allow it to continue.

Your other rights

You can browse weather without saving a place. You may request access, correction, deletion or restriction where applicable. Portability applies where its legal conditions are met; the necessary processing described here is not based on consent or contract. If optional consent-based features are introduced, consent can be withdrawn. We normally respond within one month, subject to permitted extensions. We do not collect extra identifiers solely to identify people in otherwise unidentified weather data. Contact hello@weatherverity.com. You may complain to the data protection authority where you live, including Datatilsynet in Norway.

Ads, analytics and changes

No advertising or audience analytics scripts are active in this version. Before enabling them, this policy and the Cookie Policy must list the actual providers and purposes. A standard consent platform will provide accept, reject and withdrawal choices where required. Material changes to the operator or processing will be reflected here.
